About CurlingWorks

CurlingWorks is a one‑person studio—just me, John—with a backstory that stretches across decades. My goal has always been simple: build curling software and technology that respect the sport with honest physics, the right feel, and the kind of polish curling has always deserved.

I started building curling software in the early 2000s, back when “simulation” meant inventing your own physics and “mobile” meant a phone that didn’t have a screen. Granite and Granite 2 were desktop games shipped on CDs across Canada and around the world. Every so often I still hear from someone who remembers playing them, which is both surreal and motivating.

Granite 3 is the long‑awaited sequel—a full modern rebuild with deeper physics, smarter AI, and an interface designed for mobile from the ground up. It’s the most accurate, expressive version of Granite yet. And don’t worry: a desktop version is coming.

But CurlingWorks isn’t just about games. I’m also building training tools, coaching aids, and learn‑to‑curl content—small pieces of technology meant to help people understand the sport the way curlers do. These projects will start appearing throughout the 2026/27 season.

This is a long‑term craft project, built slowly and carefully by someone who still thinks curling is both a great sport and one of the most fascinating technical challenges out there.
