This page provides a quick introduction to some of the key features in GRANITE2.

Screen Layout

Starting a Game
On the Main Menu, which is shown when the game starts, click Start a New Game. You will play as the red team. You can also choose to Start a New Practice. In practice mode, you can drag rocks around the ice to setup shots.
Calling a Shot
Place the Brush:
- Left-click anywhere on the ice in the 3D View
Choose the Turn:
- Right-click on the ice in the 3D View to choose the turn NEW!, or
- Click one of the turn buttons in the Shot Controls area
Set the Weight:
- Use the mouse wheel to increase or decrease the weight NEW!, or
- Click on the weight slider in the Shot Controls area
Throwing a Rock
Rocks can be thrown using Manual or Automatic delivery. Unless you change the settings, GRANITE2 will use Automatic delivery.
- Click the Ready to Throw button in the Shot Controls area
- Camera (viewpoint) moves to the far end to watch the delivery NEW!
- Click again to throw the rock
Sweeping
After you throw the rock, the throwing button in the Shot Controls area is replaced by three sweeping buttons. Click one of the buttons to start sweeping, and click it again to stop sweeping.
Keyboard controls are also available:
- Ctrl key to call "Clean" NEW!
- Shift key to call "Sweep" NEW!
- Backspace key to call "Hard" NEW!
Moving Around
The camera (viewpoint) can be moved with the keyboard or by clicking the buttons in the Camera Controls area:
- Auto-Tracking: Toggle on and off with the "arrows" button NEW!
- Sliding: Use the arrow keys to slide around the ice NEW!
- Elevation: Page Up and Page Down keys, or camera buttons NEW!
- Home Position: Home key or button NEW!
- Line Up behind Brush: Enter key NEW!
Illustrations
Illustrations are used to show guard coverage, a replay of the last shot, or a preview of the called shot. They can be toggled on and off using the Illustration Controls:
- Guard Coverage shades the ice surface behind guard rocks
- Replay draws the rock paths for the last shot
- Preview draws the rock paths for the called shot
(automatically updates as you changed the called shot NEW!)
Dragging Rocks
In practice mode, rocks can be dragged around the ice surface. Toggle between "shot-calling" and "rock-dragging" modes by clicking the Drag Rocks button in the lower left corner of the 3D window.
Options, Help, and Exiting
Use the Granite menu and Help menu in the upper-left corner to:
- Quit a game or practice session
- Configure game options
- Open the online help
- Send feedback
